21 May How to Select Engagements That Suit Your Needs and Desires
We are living in a world where the information is flowing on many and diverse channels.
I sometimes found myself trapped in moving from one message to another, reading and then continuing to explore.
Yes, I’m curious and eager to learn and experience. The question is how efficient can be that?
How is this aligning with my goals and vision?
Searching, exploring, learning are parts of my journey which are contributing to my development as a professional being in own business.
Meanwhile I learned that there is a need for balance and discipline.
I’m getting almost daily offers and invitations to get involved in projects, trainings and so on. While reading them I sometimes noticed my enthusiasm as first reaction and tendency of a “yes”. For me “yes” it means involvement, being there, taking responsibility and actions, participating, taking decisions.
I also failed by making choices which were implying to learn by myself how to use some additional applications to improve my website. I paid for them and after that I realized that I will not be able to learn all details of using them efficiently. It is part of entrepreneurial exploration and have accepted it.
I learned to select and say yes or no, aligning rational with emotional.
What do I want? How do I feel about it?
As a professional I enjoy accompanying individuals and team to grow and create impact, to work together and create partnerships which are contributing to an increasing awareness for a better world.
As an individual, I acknowledge my journey, the focus on my health, time spent with my family and friends, supporting them, enjoying nature and unique moments, I learned to face losses and failures and to take the time to reflect on them, and find my peace and motivation to move forward.
I experienced what it means to be under pressure, to be a single mother with two small children and a very demanding job, to build a house alone and having the tension of a credit payment. And I realized how much energy and effort I spent. Sometimes I was exhausted.
We are the only responsible ones for our choices and the first ones who can take care of ourselves.
Looking back on my own journey I found few steps useful to follow:
- listen to yourself (with mind, heart and gut)
- before choosing take some time to reflect to what it means as involvement, for you and your eco-system (people, relations, activities)
- take a decision and accept it
- observe how this decision is influencing your journey in a while
- conclude of own learnings and be thankful for them.
I believe that a wrong decision is better than no decision. Nobody is perfect and sometimes we are even forced to take a decision without having the time to think and collect information. The point is to assume it and stand-up for it in front of others.
There is always time for yourself IF YOU DECIDE FOR IT !
To be a leader with reputation and credibility, able to influence and bring impact in your business it is including self-care and awareness, honesty with self and the others, taking decisions. Professional and personal life are interfering and there is no perfect balance in between them.
Few questions are coming up here: Are you aware of that? What have you done already? What can you still do differently?
I invite you to take your time and analyze, choose and take action.
Weather you have to say a “YES” or a “NO” this is already a step further on your journey!
