18 Sep Workshop to Design & Implement own AC
Competence is an operationalized part of the requirement profile. Various competencies are assembled as a catalogue to ensure a comprehensive and holistic view about a person.
Competence is a measurable characteristic of a person, related to success and not only at work. Everybody knows the interdependence of work/life balance.
Competence may be a behavior, a skill, an attribute, or an attitude.
Competences are distributed to Dimensions and Sub dimensions. The naming depends to the company’s orientation and can be dyed accordingly (Dimension, Core-competence, Factors)
Catalogue of Dimensions (Competencies) as an example
Strategic thinking and planning
Interaction with people
Customer focus
Leadership
Performance management
Example: Strategic thinking and planning (Competence)
Sub – dimensions:
Analytical and strategic focus
Planning the task
Planning resources
Acting creative and flexible
A clearly defined approach of competencies constitutes a solid base for designing selection/development Assessment Centers by yourself.
The snapshot offered by such an AC (based on exercises simulating business contexts) it gives additional information, as part of a portfolio which is including previous experience and performance of a candidate, enabling the estimation of future potential.
I’m running together with my partner Guenter Vosskaemper (1) Guenter Vosskaemper | LinkedIn a two full days interactive workshop for Designing & Implementing own Assessment Center (AC).
Outcomes:
Understanding the Competencies and their description
Learning about observable behaviors
Learning about what does it mean to be an observer
Principles for designing the AC
How to successfully run an AC
Feed-back for the candidates
How to build reports and distribute them to candidates.
