03 Nov The joy of being a mentor
We started a new mentoring program at Professional Women Network Romania!
For me it is the 4th I participate in.
I am happy to be a mentor again with many other volunteers who want to give and receive unique experiences, learning sources and sincere friends.
I remember with emotion and pleasure my first participation in this program and the first two ladies who honored me by choosing to be their mentor. I continued with other special ladies in later programs.
We met during the 6 months of the program and each conversation was different also full of content and experiences that enriched us.
I thank them for giving me unique experiences and I am glad that I managed to offer them support in that unique moment when I met each of them.
What does mentoring bring?
A relationship based on mutual trust in which the mentor, a senior expert:
- Listen and give encouragement
- Clarifies the objectives of the mentee
- Formulate questions that can lead to the identification of solutions
- Provides guidance
- Share his expertise and experience.
The mentee will take everything that is most valuable to her / him from this process. The decision on the direction in which he (she) will want to go on his(her) own development belongs entirely to him(her) – as well as the objectives he(she) will set and the actions on which he(she) will agree in implementation.
The relationship is led by mentees, and the mentor is the one who will support him to achieve his goals by going his own way and at his own pace.
The mentee chooses its mentor so that the match is one that supports its path and creates a space in which to open safely and progress.
